This is Fetch. If you’ve ever acted out this particular drama, you’ll definitely relate to this piece. Most of my work is not what you’d call commentary, but I really had the impulse to put my spin on what goes on when the dynamic involves human, canine, and ball. Fetch is unique in that it was the first non-dance piece of my most recent series and the first to include a human figure.

In Fetch, the tables have been turned a little. I’ve captured the wind up and the anticipation. This piece has very fluid lines and a sense of tension in the moment. The lightly textured ball and outfit provide a delightful contrast to the sleek smoothness of the flesh and fur. Notice the interconnection between the two. My goal here was to express the deep relationship we have with our four-legged friends.
